I took the first load of paintings to Jane Packer this afternoon ready to be hung tomorrow. Looking around I realized for the first time quite how much wall space there is! I think there must have been a lot more flowers around when I last went in there. So I've sort of been in a mild panic mode ever since, worrying that all these people coming on Thursday will think the space looks rather empty!
I nearly convinced myself to start work again on the disastrous second poppy painting that I had long ago hidden in a cupboard but it really is a lost cause. Instead, I went back to a painting I had sketched out the underpainting for weeks ago but hadn't touched since. Surprisingly, after 7 hours nonstop painting with a 10 minute break for dinner I am really very pleased with the results, it might even be one of my favorites! Amazing what you can do under pressure. Come along Thursday evening and you can see my handywork!
