I have been terrible at blogging the last 6 months, there is a very good reason though! A lot has been going on in my personal and my art life. I relocated to London for 5 months over the summer and spent a very intense 10 weeks painting at the Slade Art School in London. It pretty much took over my life, but was a fantastic experience and I met some wonderful people. It was a huge change of both pace and way of thinking for me but I think it's good to be forced (even if it's kicking and screaming) out of your comfort zone once in a while!
Here's a picture of my amazing studio space that I was spoiled with over the summer!
Since the end of September I have been back in New York and as we have been renting a somewhat small (ok more of a shoe box) apartment I have set myself up in a shared studio space in China town. I was a bit apprehensive about this at first as I am so used to having my own space and leaving my things all over the place but actually I'm finding it's good to be a bit more disciplined and structured.
We survived hurricane Sandy relatively unscathed thank goodness but it did mean a week of no painting. I have been working on a commission piece for the last 2 weeks which is nearly finish but today I started a new seascape just to have a change of pace. More soon, I promise!
